The clear pinnacle of this week’s round-up is the Muzzle of Bees post with the complete recordings of Nirvana’s BBC Sessions. There are no words for this. Fantastic.

Aquarium Drunkard has the complete recording of J. Tillman taking on Neil Young’s Tonight’s the Night. I don’t know the full story behind this, and have had trouble figuring out what spurred this, but it’s worth a listen.

John Vanderslice released a free six-track EP called Green Grow the Rushes.

Panda Bear played a free show to close out the season at NYC’s Governor’s Island and played some new tunes that were full of reverb and dreams. Solid, but about what you expect from him.

One of the cooler shows in New York last week involved Spoon performing a daytime show at the Cake Shop (with a capacity of 150, maybe). NYC Taper recorded it. It was only a 9 song set, but it was tight and had a little more rawness than you generally expect from Spoon.

NYC Taper posted a solid recording of Dirty Projectors playing New York’s Terminal 5 on September 11th. The recording, besides DP classics like “Temecula Sunrise” and “Cannibal Resource” (in the encore), includes a cover of Dylan’s “As I Went Out One Morning.”

Southern Shelter grabbed a pair of shows from the fantastic Harvey Milk. One in Athens at the Melting Point, and the other in Atlanta at the 529.

Here’s a really short set from psych-rockers Wooden Shjips that ends on Neil Young’s “Vampire Blues.”

Krewchief took a trip down to Ann Arbor, MI to get a recording of Billy Bragg performing live at The Ark.

Empty Tapes made a mixtape for Off the Record which features some great music from Minneapolis including Dragons Power Up!, WHY?, The Book of Right On, and others.

Lymbyc Systym is the musical collaboration of brothers Jared and Matt Bell, and they play a sort of jazz meets post-rock meets ambient electronic. It occupies the cross roads of post-jazzers like Tortoise, Ezekiel Honig’s electronics, and the post-rock washes of a group like Explosions in the Sky (as mentioned at NYC Taper). This is a really great recording and a great introduction to Lymbyc Systym.

Pukekos has two free EPs from Kleenex.

The obligatory Daytrotter shout out is much longer than usual. They had a damn good week over there: Clare & The Reasons, Ra Ra Riot, Dinosaur Feathers, Toro y Moi and Caribou.
